February 2009

Things have been busy around here, especially with my work schedule. We were able to enjoy a couple of weekend activities with Aiden. First we went to the Rosedale library, Storyville. It is a special Baltimore library that includes an entire wing devoted to a play area for children under 5. They have a number of different rooms with different activities including a grocery store, post office, theater to put on puppet shows, and play kitchen among others. It is very popular and often has greater than an hour wait. In fact, on our trip we were given a buzzer so that when our name came up for entrance we could be notified (almost like Chili's). Aiden really seemed to enjoy himself and we were able to get a few pictures.

Our second big outing was to the Maryland Science Center which is located right on the Baltimore Inner Harbor. This was one of the best outings we have had with Aiden. Almost all the exhibits were interactive for the kids and he really seemed to love it. Some of the highlights includes some very large dinosaurs (Aiden's favorite), Newton's alley which had a lot of interactive physics exhibits (including a rube-goldberg machine and the bed of nails pictured below), a miniature tornado (my favorite), and a room devoted to the blue crabs/water conservation. Check out our pictures below.
