Orr Family Christmas, Danvers, IL

We just returned Wednesday from a nice week-long vacation with the Orr side of the family. We logged in quality visits with both Grandpa Ed (on his actual birthday) and with Grandpa and Grandma Moses (Aiden's great-great-grandparents, age 101 and 96, respectively) before even unzipping our suitcases, leaving only Christmas Eve for Brent to do his traditional last-minute Christmas shopping (in fairness, according to Brent, "it's not last minute if it's a planned tradition"...hmmm.). A candlelight Christmas Eve service that ended way past a certain someone's bedtime resulted in all the adults waiting on our little sleepyhead to get up on Christmas Morning. When the visions of sugarplums were finally done dancing in his head, watching Aiden's reactions was a real treat as it was his first year to really understand how exciting Christmas is. As promised, Santa had eaten his (her) cookies and left presents. Later on Christmas Day the Bartman clan (Brent's mom's side) descended on the house...all 30+ of them including the Moseses and 10 of their great-greats...all boys--all very well behaved but still, well, boys. Click on any of the pics below to head to the full album including five-generation portraits.

We had a white Christmas in Illinois to say the least. My sister-in-law Bethany & I nearly got snowed in trying to take advantage of some after Christmas sales at the mall in Bloomington, meanwhile our husbands could've become stranded in Lucca Bar & Grill. We did all eventually make it home, however, with credit cards and livers intact. Saturday morning Uncle Brian discovered just how little toddlers appreciate sarcasm when, upon noticing Aiden standing (longingly, his parents knew) outside at the snow, he asked "You really want to go hang out in the cold and snow huh?" To which Aiden replied with an enthusiastic "Yeah!". Uncle Brian could not disappoint him and Bethany captured some great pictures of the twins playing with Aiden in the snow. See if you can pick out which is which in the below pics!

We also snuck in visits with our friends the Arbuckles, the Melicks, and my good friend Heidi in Champaign (thanks for a much needed girls' night out!).
